Joan DeSalvatore

Joan DeSalvatore graduated from Barnard College with a BA in Psychology and from Columbia University’s Teachers College with an MA in Counseling Psychology. Her goal was to work in Higher Education and to help students find their way through the many challenges of their college or graduate school career. She spent more than 20 years, doing just that. After 17 years as an Assistant Dean at Columbia University, the opportunity arose to leave New York City, and become Associate Dean and Director of Undergraduate Programs at Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics. This was an incredible and rewarding five-year experience that has led her to the creation of her own business.

Joan is mother to three grown children, whose college years and experiences were as different as their personalities. Their years in college and extremely diverse academic careers have given her yet another set of windows into the college experience.

As an insider and a parent of recent college graduates, Joan has unique awareness and understanding. She brings that insight and her years of experience to College-Bound Advising Today.
